Es alentador poder seguir el proceso creativo de un artista que ha elegido trabajar en el mismo medio a lo largo de su vida profesional, logrando extraerle a este medio las imágenes y las tonalidades que responden a sus necesidades estéticas.  Juan José Cambre (1948, Buenos Aires) ha seguido exactamente este camino. Siempre pintor, pasó de su etapa expresionista de los 1980, a la representación de cuencos y algunas frutas que le permitieron saciar su curiosidad por las distintas texturas que se crean según el trazo que el artista le imponga a los pinceles, y según la densidad matérica.   Estos experimentos lo llevaron lentamente a descubrir nuevas posibilidades del medio, ampliando su horizonte visual y profundizando su capacidad de introspección, hasta llegar a los paisajes monocromáticos actuales, en los que la pincelada y la expresión se funden en un percepción transparente y poética del mundo fenoménico.  Tanto la muestra de pinturas en acrílico sobre tela en Wussmann, como sus trabajos sobre papeles, tanto en Wussman como en Lila Mitre, son celebraciones contemporáneas, bellas y elegantísimas, que atestiguan su pasión por el color y por el medio en el que eligió trabajar.

It is reassuring to be able to follow the creative process of an artist who has kept to a medium throughout his professional life, gracefully extracting from this medium the images and the colours that answer his aesthetic needs.  Juan José Cambre (1948, Buenos Aires) has done exactly this. Always a painter, he went from an expressionist stage in the 1980s, to the representation of bowls and fruits in diverse brush strokes to satisfy his curiosity for the different textures that result from the manner the artist uses the brushes or the density of the paint applied.  These experiments led him to discover new possibilities in the medium, widening his visual horizon and deepening his capacity for introspection, driving him eventually towards the current monochromatic landscapes, on which the brush strokes and the expression melt into a transparent and poetical perception of the physical world.  Both the acrylic paintings on canvas at Wussman, and the works on paper at Wussman, as well as at Lila Mitre, are beautiful and elegant contemporary celebrations, symbolic of his passion for colour and for the medium he chose to work in.
